15. House of the Genovese

Casa-de-los-GenovesesBy the XVII century, the ensemble of one story structures known as the “House of the Genovese”, was erected between the La Tasca port beach and Calafates Road, thus dominating the entire bay of Panama Viejo on its Eastern side.  It is believed that it was owned by the Genovese merchants Domingo Grillo and Ambrosio Lomelin, and that it was the headquarters for the traffic of black slaves in the old city.
