Archaeology internships

Students of archaeology, anthropology, history or other related careers, in the last quarter of their career, who wish to broaden their work experience in field work – archaeology laboratory.  Applicants must present a letter to the archaeology department, expressing their desire to participate in programmed projects, providing detailed accounts of their level of academic training, area of preference, learning interests, reasons for which they have chosen the Panama Viejo Trust, and a brief description of what their contributions could be to the archaeological project.

Additionally, they must attach their updated summarized curriculum with a recent passport style photograph, an authorized document showing the grades obtained during the academic period and a supporting letter issued by their academic institution, which validates and supports the request presented by the applicant.  The correspondence must include the email address through which we will be in contact with the applicant.

The period to present applications is between September 1st and October 31st every year, without exceptions.  Applications will be received via email, facilitating the forwarding and reception process for all corresponding documentation.  During the months of December and January, the applicants’ documentation will be presented for evaluation by the Patronato Panama Viejo.  As of January 16th, Patronato Panama Viejo will contact the applicants that have been selected, in order to begin the necessary paperwork for their progressive inclusion in the work teams, starting in the following month of February.  The list of selected applicants can be seen on the website of the Panama Viejo as of the second week in January.

All the participants must have up to date medical insurance, in effect before activities begin, as the Patronato guarantees a safe environment, but cannot be responsible for chance and unforeseeable accidents.
